Tara has been working in the field of individual and family services for over 20 years. The majority of her professional training has been in crisis case management where she has provided guidance, advocacy and information to clients who were experiencing challenging life circumstances. As a licensed social worker Tara is dedicated to assisting people toward reaching their desired goals, and in providing the support necessary to make that road as smooth as possible. She has been very fortunate in having the opportunity to develop her professional skills within a variety of helping programs. This experience has enabled Tara to build practice knowledge within a broad range of issues, while working with individuals from a diversity of backgrounds. Some of Tara's professional activities have included:

  • Development of an after school humane education (humaneeducation.org) program for teens
  • Counselor for intensive teen parenting program to assist youth in goal development and crisis intervention
  • Service Coordinator for Individuals w/Developmental Disabilities providing care oversight, program linkage and guidance with independent living and transition plans.
  • Mentor for first generation college students providing support and guidance with the college application and class planning process
  • Riding instructor for equine assisted therapeutic riding program for children (pathintl.org)
  • Program supervisor for crime victim advocacy project assisting individuals with navigating the criminal justice, legal, and emergency health care systems.
  • Senior Social Worker in Education Law Advocacy Program for NYC youth.
Education & Credentials:
Tara is a NY State licensed social worker with a Masters degree from
Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work. She has advanced
post graduate training in clinical work with adolescents from NYU
Silver School of Social Work, and certification in advanced
social work case management (C-ASWCM). Tara believes in life-long
learning and stays actively involved with several professional
organizations including: NASW-NYC (National Association of
Social Workers NYC Chapter), IECA (Independent Educational
Consultants), COPAA (Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates),
International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and SWAHAB (Social
Workers Advancing the Human Animal Bond). In relation to these
affiliations, and her work with clients, Tara participates in ongoing
trainings, seminars and attends several conferences annually.
Over the past eight years Tara has worked in the field of education advocacy specializing in school placement. She is familiar with many of the non public and private school programs serving children with special learning needs, and regularly visits these schools and therapeutic programs to obtain first hand knowledge of their curriculum and services. Tara has also helped parents with navigating the Early Intervention and pre-school special education process.
